Meet Liz: Your Hair Removal Expert

I became an electrologist after my own battle with unwanted hairs. I was in my early 40’s when I began growing thick darker hairs on my chin and lip area. I sought out help from medical professionals and specialists, did blood work, and tried an array of medications. I spent a hefty amount on laser treatments, not knowing it wouldn’t be successful on many of my lighter hairs. 

 

My dermatologist recommended I try electrolysis. I had nothing to lose at this point, except my time and money. I was desperate and tired of shaving twice a day and always feeling like the entire world could see my “man hairs”. I found an amazing electrologist in my area, but most of my consult was more then I could absorb. All I remembered hearing is it would be permanent! I was sold.

 

Later I learned and understood this was a commitment on my part. I had to immediately stop all plucking and tweezing. I would have to grow my hair out for several days before a treatment, which meant I would be in hiding as I was too embarrassed to be seen in public. 

 

My budget only allowed for monthly treatments meaning my overall timeline would be longer. Six months into my treatments the hairs were significantly reduced. I was feeling better about myself and wanted to improve other areas that I was insecure with. I decided I was done dealing with adult acne and started Accutane. 

 

Unfortunately this also meant I had to take a break from electrolysis. My facial hairs went through some crazy new growth as a result of the medication. Once I was 6 months post Accutane, I started my electrolysis treatments once more. This time the results were even more fantastic. Probably due to not having acne all over my face. 

 

I was feeling confident and beautiful in my skin. I told my electrologist how much it was improving my daily life and that I was interested in doing the same for others. That is when I learned she had started a School of Hair Removal in our area and welcomed me to come tour the school. So at 45 yrs old I went back to school and became an electrologist.

 

When I’m not helping others feel their best selves, you’ll find me swimming, playing frisbee with my golden doodles, or traveling with my husband. I have absolutely loved working with so many different people from different walks of life.
